The UBD Botanical Research Centre (UBD BRC) is the first botanical garden of Brunei Darussalam. The UBD BRC promotes multi-disciplinary research, linking research activity on plant discovery and conversation, scientific analysis and innovation, and collaborations with numerous national and international institutions, with the ultimate objective of creating medicinal products.
The plants in The UBD BRC are known to contain a wide range of chemical compounds, some of which are used in the pharmaceutical industry, with many more waiting to be discovered. These chemical compunds can be extracted for potential medicinal and food resource purposes.
Monday – Thursday, Saturday: 8am – 11am , 2pm – 4pm

The UBD BRC act as a research testing ground where it promotes multidisciplinary research, linking research activity on plant discovery and conservation, scientific analysis and innovation, and collaboration with numerous national and international institution, with the ultimate objective of creating medicinal products. The UBD BRC also serves as a test bed for UBD’s innovation with an interdisciplinary focus coming from the various disciplines across the university from engineering, internet of things, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, health science to humanities and entrepreneurship.
The garden aim to conducts translational research where the findings are useful for the general public, herbalists and students on the different medicinal plants that are currently present in the garden.
he main objective of the set up of the UBD BRC is for research, education, ex-situ as well as in-situ conservation sites.
