Locally, the fresh leaves (preferably 7 sheets or more) are soaked into warm water and the resultant infusion can be taken as remedy for high blood sugar. For diabetes, 15 sheets or more are made into an infusion. The plant is known for its antimicrobial, analgesic, antihyperlipidemic, antioxidant, neuroprotective, anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic, antiulcer and wound healing
