Perennial herb that can reach 1.5 m tall. Leaves are simple, oppositely arranged, glossy and glabrous or hairy. Leaf blade is ovate-lanceolate, acute or acuminate at apex, cuneate at base with toothed margin. Stems are branching, erect, quadrangular and reddish. Inflorescence a terminal cyme.
