Terrestrial grassy herb up to 2.5 m tall. Leaves are simple, in alternate arrangement, sessile, smooth, numerous and papery. Leaf blade is linear- lanceolate, acuminate at apex with crenulate margin or notched edge. Stems are erect, cylindrical and sheathing.
