Perennial aromatic grass that can grow up to 2.5 m tall. Leaves are drooping, glabrous, smooth and yellowish to purplish- red. Leaf blade is linear, acuminate at apex, sheathing towards the base with toothed margin and parallel venation. Stems are erect, numerous and arising from a short rhizome. Inflorescence a raceme.
