Perennial erect shrub that can grow up to 3 m tall. Leaves are simple, in alternate position, thinly leathery, glabrous to subglabrous adaxially and hairy abaxially. Leaf blade is ovate-elliptical to lanceolate, acuminate at apex, rounded or cordate at base with entire margin and pinnate venation. Branches are numerous, hairy and cylindrical. Inflorescence a raceme arising at leaf axils or terminal branch that is hidden by the folded bracts. Flowers are dull green to yellow- white, small and have narrow wings. The local healers used the plant for back pain after childbirth treatment. Roots are chewed with areca palm ( Areca catechu ) and applied as a poultice to abdominal area or back-body. Alternatively, all plant parts can be soaked in warm water as herbal bath for after childbirth.
It is usually found in wastelands, in disturbed areas and in overgrazed sites. It prefers sandy clay soil under full sunlight.
