Perennial tree that can grow up to 44 m tall. Leaves are simple, alternately arranged, glabrous and thinly leathery. Leaf blade is elliptic, acute or cuspidate at apex, rounded or cuneate at base with entire margin and pinnate venation. Outer barks are brownish grey and smooth while the inner barks possess a strong spicy smell and are pinkish. Inflorescence a cyme arising at leaf axils. Flowers are whitish-yellow and hairy.
