Perennial tufted herb up to 1 m tall. Leaves are simple, alternately arranged, papery, adaxially glabrous and abaxially hairy. Leaf blade is narrowly elliptic, acuminate at apex, cuneate at base with entire margin and prominent longitudinal pleats. Stems are erect and growing above the ground.
