Terrestrial evergreen small tree that can grow up to 18 m tall. Leaves are simple, alternately and spirally positioned, leathery, adaxially glabrous and abaxially hairy. Leaf blade is ovate-lanceolate or elliptic, mucronate at apex, base obliquely cuneate or rounded with entire or wavy margin and reticulate venation. Stems contain white sap. Twigs are often thick and hollow. Barks are dark brown to grey while the inner barks are whitish to yellow. Inflorescence a syconium (fig) arising at leaf axils.
